Fixed Line Quantity Surveyor
Location:
Ely, Cambridge (Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 WFH)
Type:
Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £45-£60k depending on candidate experience
Project Partners are now recruiting for an experienced Telecoms Quantity Surveyor who has previous experience working on Fixed Line. Are you ready for a new challenge in January 2026? Do you feel ready for change and progression? Then this could be for you!
The Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in supporting business development by ensuring accurate pricing of all opportunity activities. Working closely with Training, Quality, Compliance, and other departments within the Solutions Team, as well as the wider business, this role ensures commercial integrity, cost control, and profitability across projects.
Objectives (SMART):
* Specific:
Deliver accurate cost estimates for 100% of tender submissions.
* Measurable:
Achieve variance of less than ±5% between estimated and actual project costs.
* Achievable:
Complete all pricing activities within agreed bid timelines.
* Relevant:
Support the company’s strategic goal of profitable growth and client satisfaction.
* Time-bound:
Implement a cost-tracking system within 3 months to improve forecasting accuracy.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for telecom infrastructure projects.
* Analyse tender documents and identify cost risks.
* Liaise with internal teams (Training, Quality, Compliance) for accurate resource and material pricing.
* Monitor project costs and report variances.
* Support negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
* Maintain accurate records for audits and compliance.
* Contribute to continuous improvement in pricing methodologies
* Providing analytical and accurate rate cards and cost evaluations in the development and submission of all RFQ’s and RFP’s as directed.
* Maintain regular review of new solutions and industry process to strengthen the company’s applications for new opportunities.
* Engage with and perform regular reviews of sub contract and material supply chains to ensure rates and costs are updated in line with company support to our clients. All rate & cost changes are to be accurately recorded and advised to our programme teams.
* Support client audits and contribute to programme delivery targets and forecasts by ensuring materials and services required are properly aligned with our quality and compliance teams engaged ensuring complete confidence in our ability to perform.
* Ensure all legislative and corporate HSSQE compliance and best practice is considered and applied to all direct labour, sub contract and supplier support negotiations and opportunity development.
* Support the HSSQE team in promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Candidate Experience
Required:
* Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
* Strong knowledge of telecom or civil engineering projects.
* Proficiency in cost estimation tools and MS Excel.
* Understanding of UK construction and telecom standards.
* Membership of RICS or equivalent professional body. (desirable)
* Experience in fibre optic network projects. (desirable)
* Familiarity with NEC or JCT contract frameworks. (desirable)
* 110% team player.
* Confident presenter and 100% able to be client facing.
