Overview
Senior Physiotherapist (Intermediate Care) - part time (20 hours per week) six month secondment. Based at Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely, working as part of the discharge to assess pathway. Closing date: 11 February 2026.
We are a dynamic team within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, providing clinical therapy support to an expanding service based in Cambridgeshire and Ely, supporting patients across the South locality. The post holder will ensure patients receive the best possible care in their own homes, maximising potential in the initial phases on discharge from hospital in our short stay service.
Successful applicants will assist in developing integrated care workers to support clinical delivery and will work proactively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patient flow and safety. The service aims to provide outstanding, patient-focused, community-based health care and therapy, optimising people’s potential to achieve their goals by supporting earlier discharge from hospital.

Main duties of the jobThe role involves providing clinical therapy support to the expanding service based in the North, supporting patients across the Cambridgeshire and Ely locality. The post holder will ensure patients receive the best care in their own homes, maximise patients’ potential in the initial phases on discharge from hospital in our short stay service, and provide therapy within our interim bed environment while supporting the prevention of hospital admissions.
Successful applicants will assist in the development of integrated care workers to support the clinical delivery of the service and work with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patient flow and safety. The vision remains to provide outstanding, patient-focused, community-based health care and therapy, optimising patients’ potential to achieve their goals by supporting earlier discharge from hospital; early assessment for care needs and avoidance of hospital admission.
Please note: For this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle. Public transport is not suitable for meeting service needs. Please confirm in your application that you meet the specified criteria.
