About the roleCambridgeshire County Council’s Targeted Support Service provides support to children, young people and their families. The team delivers targeted early intervention support to reduce the risk of harm, prevent problems from escalating, strengthen family relationships, and support families to remain together and achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.
The role of a Family Worker is an exciting, dynamic and ever-evolving role, which offers Cambridgeshire families a high-quality, bespoke package of support, alongside the Family Hubs offer.
Cambridgeshire County Council fully supports the principles of the Families First programme and is currently working on implementing the model in a considered and planned way to ensure the changes we make best meet the needs of our local communities.
From 28 September 2026, Cambridgeshire County Council launched five new Best Start Family Hubs in Cambourne, Ely, Huntingdon, Wisbech and Cambridge as part of the Best Start in Life national programme. Best Start Family Hubs build on the services families already know and trust, bringing more support together and making it easier to get the right help, when it’s needed. They are more than just a building - they link community venues, outreach and online information so families can access support in ways that work for you.
