Position: Shipping and Warehouse Operator - 1705

What is the job?

As a Shipping and Warehouse Operator, you will be required to ensure the safe storage, picking and on time shipment of products made by our production groups. Our product range is diverse ranging from small mechanical items, electronics and heavy goods.

This is a hands‑on manual role where you will need to collaboratively work as a team and respond to customer queries in a timely manner. ERP experience is needed.

2 stage process following shortlisting – First stage: 60 minute Teams interview Second stage:
Onsite 1/2 hour interview

What we would like you to do/to see…
  • Work safely and follow all site HSE guidelines
  • Shipments of sales orders based on dates within our ERP system to ensure high levels of customer service
  • Comply with all customs compliance procedures and documentation and participate in regular audits
  • Booking appropriate carriers to collect goods
  • Processing paperwork for outgoing shipments, including the printing of delivery notes, export certificates (EUR1, COO), and the picking of items for shipping
  • Ensuring that items for despatch are available in a timely basis for container and trucks
  • Ensuring that goods are labelled accurately for shipping and storage
  • Assisting with periodic stock take of warehouse
  • Safe and efficient unloading and loading of delivery vehicles
  • Safe operation of multiple counterbalance forklift trucks
  • General upkeep of warehouse and dispatch area; maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment
  • Manual handling of boxes, crates and bags

you will be working?

Our purpose‑built facility is just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful medieval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.

What is essential to us…
  • Experience working in a similar environment
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Working efficiently and collaboratively with production and internal logistics teams as well as other departments within the business
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Adhering to core values and driven positive attitude
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly
  • Using ERP and other electronic Work flows. These will use PC, mobile or scanner type equipment
  • Attention to detail, ability to maintain focus and resolve problems to demonstrate excellent customer service
  • Valid Counterbalance Truck certificate recognised by an accredited training body. Engaging with our supervision programme to enable a safe operation (preferred but not essential as training can be given)
