General Responsibilities:
- Fosters a sense of goodwill and fellowship with the Lorain County Community College Student Government Association and provides representation as deemed advisable.
- Assists in creating and completing tactical, student focused goals of the Student Senate for the upcoming year prior to the start of each semester and presents them at the first General Meeting of the semester.
- Maintains a minimum of ten (10) office hours per week, not to be completed in one (1) business day, during the Student Senator’s term in office. Attend all Student Senate related functions and meetings unless prior notice is given in writing to the Manager of Student Life and approval is granted. Maximum number of hours per week is 25 hours, which must be approved by the Manager of Student Life.
- Acts as a liaison between the Student Government Association, faculty, staff, and the college administration.
- Assist in planning and implementing all Student Senate events on the Elyria campus as well as at each Learning Center.
- Represents Student Government Association at Student Senate meetings and assigned committee and council meetings. Votes on all matters where voting is required and participates as a member on the Document Review Committee.
- Exercises all additional recommendations necessary or required to serve the best interests of the College and the Student Government Association as directed by the Manager of Student Life or the administration.
- Provides efficient communication of ideas and opinions from the Student Government Association, administration, faculty, and staff while encouraging campus-wide involvement.
- Promotes integration, coordination, communication, and cooperation between all student clubs, organizations, committees, councils, and societies on campus in an unbiased manner.
- Maintains complete confidentiality of all student clubs, organizations, committees, councils, societies, and individuals pertaining to sensitive and/or confidential information.
- Acts as a mediator between student clubs, organization, and societies as needed.
- Assists in the selection of nominees for Club of the Year and Advisor of the Year for The Annual Student Honors and Awards Convocation.
- Maintains professional relationships with the Student Government Association, administration, faculty, staff, and community.
University Partnership Representative
The University Partnership Representative of the Student Senate is responsible for representing the interests and concerns of the Student Government Association members enrolled in a University Partnership Program. The University Partnership Representative serves as the liaison between the University Partnership schools and the main campus of Lorain County Community College.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate or currently enrolled in the College Credit Plus or the Early College programs. Must be registered as a student of LCCC or its partnership schools. Must have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA in accordance with official college records. Must have completed at least twelve (12) credit hours of Lorain County Community College coursework and maintain a total of six (6) credit hours per semester, except summer, in either/both LCCC and its partnership schools.
Must maintain good academic standing within LCCC as determined by the Associate Provost of Enrollment Management & Student Success.
Preferred Qualifications: The ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with other employees. Event planning and time management skills. Displays knowledge of the University Partnership programs as well as the Partnership schools. Experience with business communication in a professional environment. Completed a/a Certificate, Associate Degree, or bachelor’s degree.
