As an Estimator, you will prepare and coordinate complete estimates for transportation projects across selected regions, including both conventional and alternative contracting pursuits, ranging from simple highway rehabilitation to large-scale mega projects.

• Review proposals, specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, perform site visits to determine scope and estimate requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, determine least-cost means and methods, and complete full cost estimates, including self-review.
• Compare estimated cost items against historical cost data and construction means-and-methods options, incorporating least-cost/best-value solutions.
• Coordinate with estimators and operations managers to ensure estimates are complete and responsive.
• Collaborate with clients, design partners, vendors, and stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions.
• Analyze geotechnical reports to assess impacts on operations and cost.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Prepare CPM schedules for assigned estimates.
• Monitor client document changes (addenda) and advise the estimating team.
• Compose, track, and manage clarification correspondence with the client.
• Prepare bid documents and pricing forms for submission.
• Track job-cost data on awarded contracts and compare to budgets.
• Support operations on change orders.
• Maintain records and working documents for estimating models and takeoff templates.
• Lead by example to foster a productive environment.
• Continuously develop technical skills through industry events, equipment updates, and new processes.
• Build and maintain good relationships with industry partners.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisor.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
• Five years of related experience if not degreed in a related field.

• Experience in estimating/engineering on public and private construction projects.
• Leadership, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to estimate multiple projects simultaneously with proven time-management.
• Independent or team-oriented work capability.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of state DOTs preferred.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, Excel, Word, Bluebeam, HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
