Senior Quality Manager

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. Our Elyria facility is a cornerstone in the community‑friendly town of Elyria, Ohio, producing high‑performance pumps for aircraft and other advanced technologies.

Job Summary

This position provides quality leadership and has full responsibility for quality at the Elyria site regarding the quality management system (QMS), customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and product life cycle from product development, production, supply chain to aftermarket.

Job Duties
  • Establish a zero defect culture by leading the deployment and continuous improvement of quality strategy based on AS9100 and AS9145.
  • Achieve leading customer performance ratings through implementation of Crane Business System and QMS, driving improvement in key customer metrics.
  • Implement an effective accountability process enabling prevention and control, driving accountability for daily performance and problem solving of KPIs such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, growth.
  • Develop and implement a quality organizational structure capable of supporting strategic initiatives and lead integration of quality into development of short‑ and long‑term business plans and operating budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with Crane Aerospace & Electronics QMS, customer and industry quality requirements by establishing an effective internal audit and assessment process and robust corrective action procedures.
  • Ensure effectiveness of measurement and monitoring systems to achieve improvement in site business key metrics and quality process metrics.
  • Ensure advanced quality planning using AS9145 in product development and provide oversight and enhancements to the PDP to verify appropriate processes are followed and customer performance measures are met.
  • Effectively manage supply chain quality performance over the lifecycle, ensuring purchased materials meet requirements and comply with applicable regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ME, MSc.) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in quality in aerospace and defense; automotive experience is a plus.
  • FAA Title 14 CFR 21 (FSDO) and Repair Station Title 14 CFR 145 (MIDO) experience.
  • Expert level leadership within problem solving, Six Sigma, AS9145 APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, process control plans, process capability.
  • Experience with AS9100D QMS and with engine customer specific quality standards such as Pratt & Whitney, Rolls‑Royce, GE, Safran, CFM.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles for strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Leadership and people development, establishing a culture of quality integration into daily production issues and product development.
  • Collaborative relationship with other functions focused on finding solutions that meet internal and external quality requirements and business objectives.
  • Strong critical thinking and complex problem‑solving ability with a bias toward sense of urgency.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.

  • NADCAP experience (special processes):
    Heat treating, NDT, EDM.
  • Certified FAA DMIR, ARD 8130‑3 Conformity.
  • EASA Mag‑5 8130‑3 Repair and Overhaul.
  • CAAC CCAR‑145 Trained.
  • AS13100 QMS for aero engine design and production organizations.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt.
