The Project Manager will lead mechanical and/or electrical teams for large‑scale projects. They will oversee projects from preconstruction through final completion, ensuring safety and quality, managing client relations, budgets, schedules, vendor management, submittals, and procedures.
Summary- Plays a leadership role in coordinating mechanical and electrical industrial projects.
- Projects span steel/manufacturing, power, data centers, and various MEP related projects across diverse industries and clients.
- Typical workload includes overseeing one large project or multiple smaller projects.
- Ensures project goals are achieved within prescribed time frame and funding parameters, performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
- Manages Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen who supervise construction employees; charged with overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
- Initiates and maintains liaison with prime clients to facilitate construction activities.
- Establishes project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
- Confers with project staff to outline work plan, assign duties/responsibilities, and authority.
- Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project—arranges recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
- Reviews project proposals or plans to determine timeframe, funding limitations, project procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources to various phases of project.
- Reviews status reports from project personnel and modifies schedules/plans as needed.
- Prepares project reports for management, clients, or others.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
- Coordinates project activities with governmental agencies and subcontractors.
- Understands and can analyze and execute CPM‑based project schedules.
- Monitors/control construction through administrative direction of on‑site Superintendent to ensure project is built safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Represents company in Owner progress meetings.
- Manages financial aspects of contracts and is responsible for project profit or loss.
- Leads project team in daily field coordination meeting, weekly block schedule meeting, and monthly safety kickoff meeting.
- Mentors and assists with career development of other team members.
- Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Interviewing/hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding/disciplining; resolving complaints and problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or construction management.
- PE credentialing is not required but is a strong plus.
- 10+ years’ experience and knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management required.
- Understands and interprets safety laws and company policies/standards.
