Casting Finisher; Chipping​/Grinding iron castings

Overview

Casting Finisher (Chipping/Grinding large iron castings) – 3am start (or 10:30pm for 10‑hour shifts) at Elyria Foundry and Hodge Foundry. The role involves cleaning castings, operating overhead cranes, loading/unloading trucks, and maintaining a clean work area.

• Clean castings by removing fins, burnt‑on sand, and excess metal to meet specifications for customer shipment.
• Operate overhead cranes or jib cranes (pendant and radio‑controlled) to place castings at the workstation and shipment area, selecting appropriate heavy chains and hooks based on size, shape, and weight.
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks, weigh‑in trucks as necessary, and use scale to record data.
• Clean up the workstation and surrounding work areas after each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Time management – perform multiple operations simultaneously.
• Follow work instructions and desire to learn.
• Perform duties under physical demands: lift and carry up to 50 lbs; standing, bending, twisting, and crouching for long periods; indoor and outdoor climate conditions in varying temperatures.

• Must be able to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and whole body – climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable wearing full‑hooded respiratory safety equipment.
• Standing and bending for long periods; bending, twisting, crouching.
• Indoor and outdoor climate conditions during all seasons and varying temperatures.

Full‑time. Hourly, non‑exempt.
