POSITION SUMMARY
A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver ensures vehicle compliance with safety standards, adheres to all regulations, completes vehicle condition reports daily, and repairs defects in a timely manner.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with company policy.
- Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and disposal site, reading route sheets and servicing each customer as assigned.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, use the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the facility.
- Courtously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure timely service.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them per departmental procedures.
- Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable material and clean up spills following safety standards.
- Monitor vehicle condition to maintain operational readiness and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body as appropriate.
- Complete required route and productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other reports.
- Maintain required productivity standards for the department.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate good customer service, time management, follow-through, adherence to policies, and pride in work.
- Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
