Volunteers to read

Overview

Readers of the Voorlees Express will read aloud to "their" reading family at home for 20 weeks. They put the project into practice, build a bond with the families and convey the enthusiasm for reading aloud. They try to involve the parents as much as possible in the reading aloud. In preparation you will receive one or more training courses on interactive reading and parental involvement.

• Read aloud to a child or family once per week for a fixed evening or afternoon slot.
• Attend the required training courses.
• Submit a Certificate of Good Conduct.
• Dedicate a total of 50 hours over 20 weeks.

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Open attitude and enthusiasm for reading and books.
• Good command of the Dutch language.
• Reliable, flexible and able to communicate easily with different target groups.
• Accessible by telephone and e‑mail.
• Affinity with children and familiarity with the reading ritual.

Education requirement: VMBO.

The opportunity to help children with their language development in a fun and playful way. By reading to children one on one, you not only stimulate language development, you also ensure that children can participate with peers.
