Position Summary
Preparation and assistance of physician/provider in patient examinations and treatments in the medical office. Must be available to assist and follow the provider’s orders.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities- Call patients into rooms for examinations; perform weight, height, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration readings as needed.
- Verify patient information (date of birth, phone number, address, insurance) and update charts.
- Review patient’s medical record.
- Record and obtain symptoms, make observations, listen, answer questions and reassure.
- Obtain past medical and family history; review current medication and allergies.
- Record all information in the patient's chart and sign.
- Assist physicians and physician assistants with examinations, lift patients, and manage wheelchairs.
- Set up procedures: remove lesions, suture wounds, cast fractures, dress burns.
- Explain procedures to patients and instruct on follow‑up care.
- Give therapeutic, 1M, subcutaneous injections, allergy injections, tine tests or PPD as ordered.
- Perform ear irrigation, change wound dressings, test eyes, give enemas, and conduct standing orders (UA, strep tests, etc.).
- Handle phone calls; listen, reassure, advise and reinforce physician/PA instructions; call pharmacies for refills.
- Call patients with reports, explain results, and schedule referrals.
- Complete insurance pre‑authorizations for referrals and prescribed medications.
- Maintain clean and organized exam rooms; keep supplies and instruments ready for use.
- In coordination with the Clinic Manager, order medical supplies and maintain inventory.
- Work with pharmaceutical representatives to keep samples current.
- Provide specific diets as ordered by physicians.
- Prepare for OB checks (blood pressure, weight, dip urine, fetal heart tones with Doppler).
- Perform well‑baby checks (growth charts, immunizations, IRIS lookups).
- Remain at clinic available to physicians and physician assistants until all patients are cared for.
- Assist with Vaccine for Children program.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. - Preferred Experience:
2 years clinical experience. - Required Certification/Registration: CMA, RMA, or current Idaho LPN license.
- Physical Requirements:
Sitting, working at a computer keyboard; walking, lifting, reaching, hand‑eye coordination; speaking.
