Position Summary

Under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists in purchasing, preparing, and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, charge capture, and other support functions as assigned.

Level I Pharmacy Technician Principal Functions/Responsibilities
  • Orders, receives, and rotates pharmaceuticals and supplies. Delivers medications throughout the hospital and maintains medication kits, trays, and crash carts.
  • Processes and delivers clinic medication orders.
  • Repackages and labels bulk medication into unit dose packaging.
  • Inspects medication storage and preparation areas at least monthly to identify and replace outdated and unusable drugs.
  • Audits records of medications dispensed to patients and ensures appropriate charge capture and documentation. Investigates discrepancies and informs Pharmacy Director.
  • Files and maintains pharmacy records. Creates all required documentation as required.
  • Responds to recalls including removal of product, documentation, quarantining, and return.
  • Processes expired products for return to reverse distributor or disposal.
  • Maintains the Pharmacy Department in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Assists with immediate use non-hazardous sterile compounding according to standards of practice and policy.
  • Performs assigned training and competency activities.
  • Assists in the training of Level I Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities. Performs assigned quality control activities and audits.
  • Demonstrates ability to deal with problems by assessing and prioritizing each situation. Accepts assignments based on workload, priority, needs, and the qualifications and competencies of self; reaches out for assistance when necessary.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and patient information including electronic and print.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Idaho Pharmacy Technician Licensure (required)

PTCB or NHA Certified Technician (preferred)

BLS (required – must obtain within 6 months of hire)

Level II Pharmacy Technician Principal Functions/Responsibilities
  • All items listed within Level I Pharmacy Technician кичутьсі.
  • Assists in the training of Level I & II Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Performs non‑hazardous sterile compounding in IV suite.
  • Helpsrax maintain non‑hazardous compounding suite including cleaning, stocking, outdating, monitoring, surface sampling, recertification, and associated documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Idaho Pharmacy Technician Licensure (required)

PTCB or NHA Certified Technician (required)

BLS (required – must obtain within 6 months of hire)

Minimum of one year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience ( Đây_required).

One Year Of Non‑hazardous Sterile Compounding Experience (preferred)

Must meet the qualifications and requirements of a Level I Pharmacy Technician.
