Beacon for Hope's Suicide in the Heartland:
Stronger than the Storm is dedicated to saving lives through education, resources, support, and hope for those affected by suicide. The Suicide Prevention Community Engagement VISTA will work in the creation of innovative and engaging events and community outreach focused on at-risk populations. Utilization of current suicide prevention data and community factions will be used to create growth opportunities in areas of need where access to mental health resources are scarce or non-existent.
The VISTA will develop resources that target specific, unique communities in 8 rural counties in Kansas. The VISTA will participate in organized events and community outreach events that promote suicide prevention and awareness.
Member Duties : Beacon for Hope Suicide Prevention is dedicated to ensure individuals of income eligible areas of Kansas receive suicide prevention, education, resources, and materials to help reduce the suicide rate. The Suicide Prevention Community Engagement VISTA will work directly with Beacon for Hope staff to create innovative events and outreach opportunities that target veterans and their families. The VISTA will collaborate with community factions, donors, key community leadership, and other VISTAs to create life‑saving events focused on providing resources, education, and materials.
Participation in community outreach events as well as community organized events to reach members of communities at risk is required.
