Plastic Surgery Surgical Tech – Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Dermacare Plastic Surgery (Schoemann Plastic Surgery) is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with Certified First Assist–level capabilities to support a high-acuity, single-surgeon plastic surgery operating room. This role is designed for a technically advanced surgical professional who can function as both scrub technologist and first assist
, with the ability to suture and close independently
, improve operative efficiency, and support complex plastic surgery cases.

Skills and Abilities
  • Serve as Scrub Technologist and First Assist during plastic surgery procedures.
  • Ability to independently suture and close incisions for procedures including breast lifts and abdominoplasty.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs to maintain uninterrupted operative flow.
  • Maintain strict sterile technique and OR safety standards throughout cases.
  • Proven customer service excellence, consistently modeling professionalism, confidence, and integrity across all communication channels.
  • Strong patient-centered approach with demonstrated success in relationship building and trust-based communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; collaborates effectively with leadership, providers, and cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and ethical standards, including strict adherence to HIPAA and California regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in EMR/PMS, CRM platforms, and technology used for charting, scheduling, communication, and workflow management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating room with procedure-specific instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Execute efficient room turnover between cases to minimize downtime.
  • Lead instrument breakdown, cleaning, sterilization, and tray preparation.
  • Maintain accurate sterilization documentation and quality control logs.
  • Transport, clean, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments per protocol.
  • Ensure trays are organized correctly for plastic surgery procedures.
  • Maintain organization of sterile processing and supply areas.
  • Support OR inventory readiness and supply awareness.
  • Assist OR nurse with patient flow and recovery transitions as needed.
  • Support minor procedures and local cases when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient OR environment.
Education and Experience
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
  • Certified First Assist (CFA/CSFA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of plastic surgery preferred (surgical experience required).
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to suture and close independently.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic surgery instrumentation and workflows.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • Strong communication, patient care, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced setting.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and team-focused.
  • Professional appearance consistent with a luxury clinical environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and EMR or PMS Systems.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and solution-oriented mindset.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Occasional sitting, bending, computer use, phone use, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent interaction with patients and staff in a dynamic clinical environment.
