We are hiring a Founder Brand & Social Media Manager dedicated to growing James Conole’s personal channels (You Tube, Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok) and using them to:
Attract the right-fit retirement clients for Root Financial.
Attract the right-fit people to join Root as advisors and team members.
Your job is to own the how of James’s social presence so he can focus on the what: ideas, message, and being on camera. You will plan the content calendar, decide when and how you film, choose formats, handle editing and posting logistics, and bring James a clear plan to react to.
The content mix will include client-facing education and behind-the-scenes “day in the life / culture” content that shows how we think, work, and treat people. James’s job is to show up, share his expertise and perspective, review the calendar, and when needed, hit post. Your job is to turn that into consistent, high-performing content that attracts both great clients and great teammates.
Core Outcomes (first 12 months)You are successful if:
James is publishing 3–6 short-form videos per day across Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok from new and existing footage.
James’s short-form channels become a meaningful, trackable source of new leads.
Root can point to at least a few high-quality advisor / key hire candidates per quarter who cite James/Root social as a primary reason they applied or accepted.
All comments and DMs on James’s channels are acknowledged within 24 hours, with warm followers routed into Root’s existing funnels (guides, workshops, Fit Calls).
There is a simple, reliable capture system:
James always knows what is being filmed this week, when, and why.
Build and maintain a rolling content calendar for James’s short-form channel (this role does not own James’ long-form content strategy on You Tube).
Propose topics, hooks, and angles; incorporate James’s ideas and Root’s strategic priorities.
Decide formats (Reel vs carousel vs You Tube clip), posting cadence, and timing.
Keep up with current social media trends, formats, and algorithm shifts specifically for educational and financial content, and bring fast recommendations so we can capitalize on what is working now rather than shipping ideas after the moment has passed.
Balance client-facing educational content with behind-the-scenes and culture content that supports recruiting.
Plan and run regular content sessions with James based on your calendar and shot lists.
Capture in-office content even when it doesn’t directly involve James.
Film James in-office and at selected events; prompt him with clear questions and hooks.
Capture “day in the life” and post-meeting reflections that show Root’s culture and decision-making.
Pull clips from existing footage and repurpose them.
Edit into platform-native short-form pieces (hooks, pacing, captions) and prepare posts for James to approve or publish.
Monitor comments and DMs on James’s accounts; respond using Root’s voice and scripts.
Use existing tools and simple manual scripts to move followers to guides, workshops, or Fit Calls.
Surface lead and content insights back to sales and marketing.
Track basic metrics (views, saves, follows, profile visits, link clicks, leads) and report what is working and what is not.
Coordinate with Root’s central marketing team so James’s content supports, not conflicts with, brand-level campaigns and assets.
You show up with a plan, calendar, and shot list, not “What do you want to do today?”
You are strong at pivoting ideas quickly as trends and priorities change. You are comfortable killing ideas we have already planned,…
