About the Role

Teach Now is seeking a Year 2 Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Enfield, helping pupils aged six to seven feel settled, included and ready to learn.

You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs. A key part of the role will be recognising early signs of frustration, using calm boundaries and helping children regulate before difficulties escalates.

The role also involves using autism-informed strategies and positive behaviour support throughout the school day. You will adapt activities where needed, reinforce routines and help pupils build confidence, participation and independence.

This opportunity would suit someone with experience supporting primary-aged children who can remain calm under pressure, build trusting relationships and respond thoughtfully to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Year 2 pupils to engage with lessons and classroom routines.
  • Recognise early signs of distress and use appropriate regulation strategies.
  • Apply clear, consistent boundaries to support positive behaviour.
  • Work with the class teacher to adapt activities for different learning needs.
  • Use autism-informed approaches to support participation and inclusion.
  • Share observations with colleagues to maintain consistent support.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting primary-aged children with additional learning or behavioural needs.
  • Practical understanding of autism-informed support and positive behaviour approaches.
  • Ability to recognise triggers and use age‑appropriate regulation strategies.
  • Strong spoken and written English for clear classroom communication.
  • A calm, consistent and professional approach.
  • The right to work in the UK and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS and other safeguarding checks.
  • Applicants must hold the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
  • This post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance.
What the School Offers
  • A purposeful Year 2 support role with a clear focus on pupil progress.
  • An experienced leadership team and supportive approach to additional needs.
  • Opportunities to develop practical skills in behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Close collaboration with the class teacher and wider school team.
  • A structured classroom environment where consistent support can make a visible difference.
  • The chance to help young learners build confidence and independence.
