About The Felix Project
The Felix Project is a dynamic, ambitious charity working to make London a city where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.
We rescue high quality, fresh and nutritious food that cannot be sold from nearly 500 suppliers including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants and delis. We sort and deliver this food to charities, schools and community projects supporting London’s most vulnerable people.
This year we expect to rescue 13,000 tonnes of food to redistribute to more than 1,000 London frontline charities and primary schools in every borough of London. That’s enough food to make more than 30 million meals.
The Felix Project is growing fast in response to huge demand. Set up in 2016, we now have around 160 staff working alongside 8,500 volunteers. We have four main operating depots spread across London - in Deptford, Enfield, Park Royal and Poplar. We’re committed to ensuring our different teams work hand-in-hand, so our main hot-desking spaces are built into these depots.
Alongside our large-scale, depot-based operations we have green ‘point-to-point' food redistribution projects in central London and Canary Wharf. In Poplar, we operate a commercial Kitchen which uses surplus food to cater for up to 5,000 individual meals per day.
Role Overview
This role is a great opportunity to make a big difference to The Felix Project as it matures in its impact and evaluation work. As Impact, Evaluation and Reporting Manager, you will report to the Head of Special Projects and will work closely with several other colleagues and departments to ensure that impact, evaluation and reporting are embedded across the organisation and best practices are adopted.
This is a busy and varied role. You’ll use your skills and experience to lead on and implement the organisational impact strategy and you will own and advocate our Theory of Change, ensuring that it is used, known, understood, and implemented across the organisation in order that we achieve the ‘one team’ approach that we strive to reach.
You will be the first point of contact across the organisation for all matters related to impact, evaluation and reporting including the commissioning of research across the organisation and any evaluation work planned. You will also help to continue the work that has been started in this area to ensure that the data we collect on our organisational impact is then used to inform decision-making.
You will have ownership of a range of data analysis and reporting work streams, and the knowledge of what reporting looks like across the organisation. This is a cross-organisational role that will see you working closely with most departments across the organisation - the Tech team to conduct analysis of what data is currently gathered across the organisation and what our organisational needs are in this area;
the Ops, volunteering and people teams to ensure that impact data is routinely gathered; the Marketing and Communications team to ensure the use of data we gather is maximised and to deliver reporting across the organisation, enabling a clear and consistent narrative; and the management team to ensure that data is used to inform decision-making.
You will have proven experience of commissioning evaluations to understand impact, reporting in a concise and simple manner, ideally across a range of sectors and ideally related to societal and/or environmental impact.
Whilst some of our processes and systems surrounding our impact, evaluation and reporting work exist, there is an expectation that the postholder will develop these systems and processes as this area becomes more central to our work.
Ultimately, this person is responsible for defining and measuring The Felix Project’s impact across all stakeholder groups, equipping colleagues with the knowledge and tools to understand and communicate our impact and using insights to drive continuous improvement and make business decisions.
