Ackerman Pierce is currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Options Officer to join a busy Housing Options Team in Enfield.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional who can confidently manage homelessness prevention casework, provide high-quality housing advice and work effectively with customers to identify realistic and sustainable housing solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive housing options, advice and homelessness prevention casework in accordance with the Housing Act 1996
. - Assess and process homelessness applications, ensuring customers receive accurate, appropriate and timely advice.
- Use available homelessness prevention tools to help sustain existing tenancies or secure suitable and affordable alternative accommodation.
- Prepare and issue robust Section 184 decisions
. - Provide statutory advice and assistance to non-priority homeless applicants, including rough sleepers, in accordance with relevant housing legislation.
- Work proactively with customers, landlords, housing providers and partner organisations to prevent homelessness wherever possible.
- Utilise prevention options including the Home Finder Scheme, Discretionary Hardship Payments and court representation where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure cases are progressed efficiently and in accordance with statutory requirements.
You will have previous experience working as a Housing Options Officer, Homelessness Officer or within a comparable housing-needs service
, together with a strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation and prevention duties.
You should be comfortable managing your own caseload and able to hit the ground running within a busy local-authority environment.
