Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Enfield Care Center
! We are the largest gastroenterology practice in the state of Connecticut with 30 Care Centers and still growing.   Experience:
  
  you will be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight) and documenting accurately utilizing Epic EMR.
• Attention to Detail:
  Updating patient s medical history including updated medication list.
• Team Player:
  Appropriately documents all patient phone calls and under the direction and guidance of the provider, informs patients of test results.
• Versatility:
  Familiarity with prior authorization process.
• Expertise:
  Asking appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately recording in Epic.

• Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred)
• At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and referring practices.
• Have a broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
• EMR experience is ideal, Epic experience is a plus.
• Have the ability to prioritize and multi-task and must be able to function in a fast paced, at times, stressful environment.

Full-time

From $18.00 per hour, depending on experience

Education:

High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.

Experience:

Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or externship completed in a medical office. Experience in Gastroenterology is preferred.

• Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.
• Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.

• Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
• Skill in performing medical assistance tasks.
• Skill in written and verbal communications.
• Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
• Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
• Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
