Compliance Officer – HENSOLDT UK
Job Scope
This role will, together with the Head of Legal UK, be responsible for ensuring the compliance of HENSOLDT UK with all applicable legal and regulatory compliance requirements, including but not limited to Data Protection and Anti‑Bribery. The role will interact with both internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance and technical inputs across all operations of the HENSOLDT UK Group. It will implement, review and monitor internal compliance policies to meet legal and regulatory requirements and maintain up‑to‑date documentation.
The Compliance Officer will provide strong compliance knowledge across all departments, support the Sales, Programme, Service Support and Procurement functions, and continuously learn through webinars and associations.
Job Functions- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across all business activities, including Data Protection and Anti‑Bribery laws.
- Adhere to corporate ethics and compliance policies and procedures.
- Advise and guide all employees on all compliance‑related issues.
- Act as the subject matter expert on internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Monitor and advise on new and updated legal and regulatory requirements related to compliance.
- Assess compliance‑relevant contract matters in the UK and abroad.
- Contribute to and take the lead on the creation of compliance policies and processes to ensure lawful business operations.
- Conduct due diligence checks on qualifying third parties to determine compliance clearance.
- Conduct risk assessments on transactions and compile a thorough file for senior management sign‑off.
- Complete Data Protection Impact Assessments for all new data processing activities and keep the record of processing activities up to date.
- Review and advise on privacy notices and ad‑hoc data protection queries.
- Respond to subject access requests and queries from data subjects on the use of their personal data.
- Support the roll‑out of regular compliance training across the business.
- Engage stakeholders to establish a culture of compliance throughout the Group.
- Support the completion of customer due‑diligence questionnaires.
- Compile compliance reports as required.
- Review and investigate potential instances of non‑compliance and data breaches.
- Carry out internal and external audit as required.
- Highest level of integrity.
- Significant demonstrable experience in the majority of the key areas, ideally within the Defence industry or a similar international environment.
- Investigative and analytical mindset with strong data gathering and interpretation skills.
- Strong communicator, both in writing and verbally, able to adjust presentation to target audiences.
- Independent‑minded, structured, organised and flexible, contributing effectively to a team.
- Pragmatic and commercially alert, effective at identifying and assessing risk.
- Experienced in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Creative problem‑solver who is detail oriented.
- Ability to integrate and balance priorities, working activities and resources for multiple stakeholders.
Previous experience of working in a broad compliance role.
UK Bribery Act 2010Contribute to internal training and refresher programmes.
GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018Manage registrations and demonstrate compliance with sensitive data.
Good knowledge of dynamics connected to corruption, money laundering and terrorism financing. Some experience with EU and UK sanctions regimes would be beneficial.
Qualifications- Degree level or equivalent.
- Formal legal training or compliance related qualifications (such as GDPR Practitioner) would be an advantage.
