Why this job – CONTROLLER:

This is your chance to take ownership of the real estate accounting function for a wide-ranging portfolio while shaping processes, enhancing reporting, and driving efficiencies. You'll work closely with senior leadership, contribute strategic insights, and lead a talented team in a supportive environment. This role offers the variety of a mid-sized company and the sophistication of a larger, process-driven organization.

What You'll Actually Do:

• Oversee all real estate accounting activities, including review of property-level financials from third-party managers and internal teams
• Manage accounting for 40+ external properties and 7–8 internally managed properties
• Collaborate with the real estate management team to ensure timely, accurate reporting
• Drive system conversion from Dynamics to Business Central and optimize reporting through Power BI
• Provide in-depth analysis on real estate holdings for the CFO and CEO, aligned with public-company-level reporting standards
• Implement process improvements to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency
• Support tax-related activities by following prior year work papers and working with external advisors
• Lead, mentor, and develop a Senior Accountant within the real estate accounting team

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• 10+ years of accounting experience
• Real estate or property accounting experience required
• Expertise in property accounting, systems integration, and process improvement
• Knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and internal controls
• Strong proficiency in Power BI; experience with Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central preferred
• Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment and balance strategic and hands-on responsibilities
• High level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail
• Proven leadership with outstanding organizational and task management capabilities

• Hybrid – 2 days in Englewood office
