Traveling Civil Construction Superintendent – HPM, Inc.

Position:
Travel Civil Construction Superintendent based out of Englewood, CO headquarters. Must travel to manage projects across the US. Lead superintendent on $15+M project elements. When not traveling, responsible for local projects in Englewood, CO.

Employment Type: Full Time

Pay: $115,000 – $140,000 annually DOE plus per diem, housing allowance, and accommodation as needed.

Recruitment: This is a direct‑hire position; staffing agencies or recruiters are not being used.

Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Set the tone for project safety.
  • Assist project superintendent with implementation and enforcement of HPM and project‑specific safety plans.
  • Ensure all operations have a current hazard analysis.
  • Lead periodic safety walks.
  • Mentor field engineers on safety culture and protocols.

Quality

  • Work with the project team to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Assist with maintaining records such as testing and inspections, progress photographs, etc.
  • Attend weekly coordination meetings.
  • Assist in preparatory and pre‑construction meetings for assigned disciplines.
  • Assist superintendent with walk‑through inspections.
  • Help field engineers develop work plans for operations.

Compliance

  • Assist superintendent with implementation and enforcement of HPM stormwater management plans.
  • Implement and enforce all established HPM policies and procedures.
  • Perform other project‑specific compliance requirements as assigned.

Scheduling

  • Understand scheduling philosophy and participate in weekly schedule meetings.
  • Participate in coordination meetings as required.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring schedules on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Implement project schedules in the field to ensure work execution.
  • With direct supervision, draft short‑term construction schedules for specific features using scheduling software.

Project Administration

  • Responsible for as‑built documentation on site.

Cost Control

  • Understand cost, steward the project budget, and make mindful spending decisions.
  • Collect and analyze cost data to monitor budgets and progress.
  • Understand production rates and their impact on schedule.
  • Use production rates to modify schedules and make decisions for timely completion.
  • Assist with procurement of non‑contract minor field purchases.
  • Perform cost coding for time sheets and non‑contract purchases.
  • Begin to understand HPM’s project cost accounting system.

Procurement/Tracking

  • Coordinate with project team on procurement of long‑lead items in accordance with the schedule.
  • Communicate purchasing needs with proper office personnel.

Field Execution

  • Read and understand all construction and contract documents and changes, including plans, manual, specifications, geotechnical reports, etc.
  • Plan and execute work to recognize issues in advance for timely resolution.
  • Assist in writing and communicating RFIs.
  • Assist in evaluating dimensional and other field problems, and working with superintendent to resolve.
  • Manage site logistics, access, material storage, and security.
  • Act as day‑to‑day onsite coordinator of craft and subcontractors for effective execution.
