Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a
Deer Trail School Engagement Specialist/Library Specialist
to support both Deer Trail School and Davies Library. In this role,you'llcreate and deliver library instruction, serve as a liaison with school partners, support collection development for the school, and provide direct servicestoboth student and public library patrons.
No two days look exactly the same.
You may spend your morning teaching students about information literacy, your afternoon helping patrons with technology questions, and your evening connecting community members with library resources and services.
The
Deer Trail School Engagement Specialist/Library Specialist
works closely with Deer Trail faculty, the Davies Library Teamand other Arapahoe Libraries staff to support student learning and community engagement. During the school year,you'lldevelop teaching plans and provide instruction that supports classroom learning while building library and information literacy skills.
You'llhelp students explore new ideas, think critically about information, and develop confidence using library resources to support their learning.
This role serves as an important connection between the school and the public library.
You'llbuild relationships with educators, students, families, and community members while helping connect people with resources, services, and opportunities that support their goals. Whether you'rehelpingidentifymaterials that support classroom curriculum, introducing students tonew technologies, or encouraging exploration and discovery,you'llplayan important rolein expanding access to learning.
Whenyou'renot working with students,you'llhelp create a welcoming library experience for patrons of all ages.
You'llassistwith reference and technology questions, support library accounts and materials handling, promote library resources and programs, and contribute to the daily operations that keep the library running smoothly. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys continuous learning, takes initiative, and is comfortable adapting tonew ideas, technologies, and community needs.
- Create teaching plans and provide library instruction that supports library literacy, informationliteracyand in-school learning units.
- Train and assist students in the use of library resources.
- Serve as a liaison between Deer Trail School and Arapahoe Libraries.
- Attend school meetings and collaborate with school staff and library partners.
- Support the purchase of relevant materials for Davies Library through school partnerships and grant-funded initiatives.
- Provide welcoming, proactive service to library visitors.
- Assist patrons with library account inquiries, basic referencequestionsand advisory services.
- Promote library resources,programs and events.
- Respond to patron concerns, set expectations for library use and help foster a positive library experience.
- Maintain a welcoming and organized library environment.
- Assist patrons with computers, mobiledevicesand other technology.
- Supportuseof library technology resources, including e-books, onlinedatabasesand Microsoft Office applications.
- Troubleshoot printers,copiers and other library equipment.
- Process, shelve andmaintainlibrary materials and patron holds.
- Supportcollectionmerchandising and library displays.
- Stay current on library resources, services,technology and trends.
- Keep informed of district communications and updates.
- Collaborate with co-workers and other departments to meet the needs of patrons and students.
- Provide feedback,observations and ideas that support continuous improvement.
