Lead Electrical Engineer 2 – Energy & Industrial Group

OverviewLead engineering in a project team environment, designing, modifying, and analyzing electrical systems for plant retrofits and new installations.
Responsibilities- Design power distribution systems and prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical equipment.
- Assist project manager to ensure timely, budget‑conscious project completion.
- Coordinate systems design activities to comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Prepare functional design drawings (single line, relay and metering, cable block, schematic diagrams) and supporting documentation.
- Perform calculations: auxiliary power studies, voltage drop, protective relay settings, arc flash.
- Interface with vendors for bills of material, equipment purchase specifications, and client recommendations.
- Write reports and studies presenting technical information clearly.
- Review peer work, including calculations and drawings.
- Mentor less experienced engineers.
- Engage in peer‑learning through S&L’s Communities of Practice.
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site coordination.
- BSEE (ABET‑accredited) with emphasis in power systems; PE license highly preferred or ability to earn.
- 12+ years of experience in power or industrial plant design, focusing on integrated, detailed system design for new or existing facilities.
- Experience selecting equipment, materials, control philosophy, and assembling calculations and specifications.
- Knowledge of medium and low voltage distribution systems and analytical calculations.
- Proficiency with ETAP and/or SKM.
- Acted as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
- Reviewed other engineers’ design calculations and drawings.
- Instrumentation and controls engineering knowledge.
- Project management and business development experience.
- Construction and start‑up experience.
Hybrid: in‑office work 3 days per week.
