Construction Materials Quality Control Program Administrator - Englewood, CO
The Construction Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that each project meets owners’ requirements and standards. This involves coordinating and scheduling Quality Control staff, overseeing daily operations, supporting the Project Management team, and making judgment‑based decisions within authorized limits.
Responsibilities- Schedule and assign QC staff to projects.
- Develop, implement, manage, and revise Quality Management Plans for newly awarded projects.
- Develop concrete mixes for bidding and construction purposes.
- Estimate QC manpower and additional costs of outside testing services for upcoming projects due for bidding.
- Submit change orders for inspection and testing procedures for each project.
- Assist in conception and implementation of Corrective Action Plans to remedy nonconforming issues.
- Develop Concrete Quality Plans and perform concrete plant uniformity tests.
- Oversee trial batches for concrete mixes.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to evaluate alternative construction means or materials.
- Coordinate with production personnel on upcoming needs for QC technicians.
- Identify processes requiring written quality control procedures.
- Assist QC staff with questions regarding materials, proper concrete mixes, and testing requirements.
- Ensure lightweight inertial profilers are certified through state agencies.
- Maintain QC testing equipment and ensure materials are available to staff.
- Perform required inspections and complete checklists in accordance with contract documents.
- Document and submit all applicable reports and paperwork to appropriate personnel or agency.
- Professional Engineer with at least 1 year of airport paving experience.
- Engineer‑in‑training with at least 2 years of airport paving experience.
- Civil Engineering Technology Level IV with NICET certification and at least 3 years of airport paving experience.
- Individual with at least 4 years of airport paving experience, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or related field; preferably 1 year of heavy construction experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer‑relations skills, able to work independently and resolve practical problems.
- Strong work ethic, flexible work schedule, including overtime and nights as required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Understanding of basic behavior‑based safety programs and enforcement of company safety policies.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Outside environment, exposure to all weather conditions and temperature extremes. Site specific exposure to hazardous materials requiring proper use of personal protective equipment. Noise levels are site specific and may be subject to PPE.
Physical Requirements- Frequent standing, walking, handling objects, using hands and arms, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, or kneeling.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Require walking the construction site, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, and walking on uneven ground.
- Position requires a large portion of time spent on project sites.
