Lead Systems Engineer
We are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for nuclear projects based in Englewood, CO. This role involves managing requirements across multi-discipline project teams to ensure the successful delivery of complex engineering projects for the Department of Energy (DOE) and other nuclear clients. Your expertise in systems engineering, project management, and leadership will be crucial in influencing the success of intricate nuclear projects.
Responsibilities- Plan, lead, and review Systems Engineering activities for the development of advanced nuclear facilities and laboratories.
- Lead the management and development of requirements for nuclear infrastructure projects.
- Assemble and manage the definition of requirements to satisfy customers and project end goals.
- Drive configuration management of systems-generated deliverables.
- Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms across all project levels, including customers, internal resources, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Interface with client stakeholders to ensure project expectations are being met.
- Assist the project team and other stakeholders in developing interface definitions and controls to ensure integration across engineering disciplines and with owner and third‑party vendor supplied special equipment.
- Manage requirements in a database tool to assist in documentation, control, and verification of requirements.
- Ensure the project team maintains requirements compliance and that requirements are satisfied during project delivery.
- Demonstrate the achievement of verification in a database tool and published reports.
- Assist the project team in change management and impacts to satisfying documented requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- US Citizen.
- 5+ years of Engineering experience.
- 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience leading technical teams.
- Experience in DOE project delivery.
- Well‑rounded knowledge of engineering disciplines associated with nuclear facility infrastructure.
- Strong relationship management, facilitation, and consulting skills.
- Knowledge of the Engineering Design Process including control of design inputs and verification/validation of outputs.
- Advanced level of specialized engineering knowledge in change management.
- Experienced in maintaining a comprehensive requirements management system or a particular Requirements Management Tool (e.g., DOORs).
- Fully versed in writing and reviewing technical quality documentation.
- Fully versed in safety and operational requirements from initial design to final implementation.
- Knowledge of DOE orders, standards, and guidelines pertaining to requirements management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with DOE‑STD‑3009, DOE‑STD‑3024, DOE‑STD‑1189, DOE‑STD‑1073, DOE O 413.3, DOE O 420.1B.
The position is initially office‑based for five days a week, with potential for flexible work arrangements later. The role may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance and the ability to travel up to 20%. Limited travel is expected, with trips budgeted annually per resource at the discretion of the project.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 – $73.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
