Systems Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, development, and integration of advanced propulsion systems for aviation applications. This role requires a strong background in systems engineering, a deep understanding of MBSE methodologies, and experience with aviation propulsion technologies.
Systems engineering is a cross‑functional discipline focused on both business and technical needs of the customers. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, from concept to production to operation, including identification and quantification of system requirements, design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.
Location:
Englewood, Colorado or Loveland, Ohio.
- Lead the development and integration of aviation propulsion systems on DoD applications using MBSE methodologies. Ensure systems meet customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain system models using tools such as Cameo, SysML, MATLAB/Simulink, and other MBSE tools. Perform simulations and analyses to validate system performance and behavior.
- Define, manage, and trace system requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure alignment between stakeholder needs and system capabilities.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture, design specifications, test plans, and validation reports.
- Serve as an engine system integration subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team. Ensure products and sub‑systems meet overall requirements. Advocate for the customer while understanding programmatic trade‑offs and business decisions necessary to deliver the best overall solution. Coordinate with design and cross‑functional teams to meet product requirements.
- Support capturing test data and lessons learned, connecting back to MBSE structure and requirements.
- Lead and/or participate in design reviews.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design. Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturing.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices.
- Work with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve delivery and quality issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- At least 9+ years of experience working with propulsion systems and/or engine‑airframe integration, and 4 years actively using Cameo.
- Strong understanding of MBSE tools.
- Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills.
- Proven self‑starter and quick learner who can work in fast‑paced cross‑functional teams.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
