This is an exciting opportunity to work on the Fleet Ballistic Missile Program (FBM), a 63‑year‑old program with a long‑standing history of mission success and a strong partnership with our Navy customer. LocationThis position does not support teleworking and requires full‑time onsite work at our Lockheed Martin Space facility near Englewood or Littleton, CO, on a flexible 9x80 schedule.
What does this role look like?The new Hardware Engineer will support the LE2 program for Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). Use your strong electrical engineering skills to work with all project partners and define the future for FBM.
Key activities you will accomplish- Participate in requirements analysis, configuration determination, design, alterations, material procurement, manufacturing, test, and acceptance for a wide variety of electrical and electromechanical test systems and multifunction integrated test equipment in support of the US Navy’s Ballistic Missile Flight Test Program.
- Mentor junior engineers and interface extensively with our customers and senior leadership.
- Create and update project/process documentation that aligns with project requirements.
- Lead the design, procurement, assembly, test, and verification of automated test systems, including data review and trending.
- Develop hardware requirements from subsystem to all locally assigned support equipment test systems.
- Interface with suppliers, customers, and internal design teams to provide cost‑effective and low‑risk solutions.
- Develop test system design documentation to communicate proposed designs to internal teams, vendors, and customers.
- Support Failure Review Board activities through closure.
- Travel and work at alternate work sites as required, less than 25% of the time.
- Experience in designing and testing electrical hardware.
- 3+ years of professional experience in this role.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Hardware development experience.
- Strong technical background with automated test equipment (ATE) or similar systems.
- Experience with interconnect design.
- Experience with tools such as Creo, Windchill, Zuken, or PSpice.
- Experience leading project teams and development efforts.
- Ability to work autonomously and drive items to closure.
- Experience with product life‑cycle (development, deployment, retirement).
- Experience with issue tracking systems.
- Capability to lead a team responsible for the development and test of integrated test systems.
- Experience as a subject‑matter engineer or equivalent.
- Experience with telemetry data processing (TDP).
- Experience working with RF.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate diverse small teams in developing technical products.
- Experience reading schematic diagrams and other technical documentation.
- Experience troubleshooting system‑level issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This position requires a government security clearance. US citizenship is required for consideration. Clearance level:
Top Secret.
