Position Summary:
The Controller will serve as the financial leader of the organization, overseeing all accounting and financial operations to support the company’s continued growth. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with deep construction industry experience and the ability to partner with senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have 10–15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with a strong background in construction financial management, job costing, and project accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the accounting department, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Manage job cost reporting, WIP schedules, and project profitability analysis.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
- Oversee bonding, insurance, banking relationships, and audits.
- Lead technology and process improvements within the accounting function, including ERP system optimization.
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, building a high-performing finance team.
- Provide strategic input to the executive leadership team regarding growth opportunities, risk management, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 10–15 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job cost, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion, and contract compliance.
- Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, CMiC, or similar).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership and operational teams.
