Under medical direction this position provides for the implementation and coordination of Respiratory Care procedures based upon the Policies and Procedures of the Respiratory Care Department. In addition to performing all routine respiratory procedures, the Respiratory Practitioner will be responsible for special procedures within their scope of practice, maintaining and improving clinical competence, practicing universal precautions, maintaining and cleaning equipment, and performing any other duties deemed necessary by the shift supervisor.

The position also provides consultation, collaboration and education to the medical staff, multidisciplinary care team members, and patients/families. Embrace and consistently demonstrate Swedish Memorable Care initiatives, encompassing both patients and employees.

• Licensure/Certification/Registration: NBRC accredited RRT credential or CRT if grandfathered in;
  Current Colorado Respiratory License;
  Current BLS, ACLS certifications through AHA or ARC required; PALS preferred; NRP preferred.
• Education:
  
  Graduate of AMA accredited Respiratory Therapist Program.
• Experience:
  
  6 months previous experience.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  During the first year in the position, the employee will be cross‑trained to staff the Intensive Care Units, the ED, the Multi‑Trauma units, the floors and provide special procedures. Must possess assessment skills, knowledge of respiratory principles & procedures, effective written and verbal skills, and meet orientation standards.
