- The IV Room Lead Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, effective and cost‑effective use of intravenous drugs through the application of specialized knowledge, skills, and professional judgment.
- The IV Room Lead Pharmacist serves as a patient advocate when planning and implementing pharmaceutical care by considering the patient’s disease conditions, background, need for understanding and participation in drug therapy in a fiscally responsible manner.
- The IV Room Lead Pharmacist is responsible for directly managing IV room personnel. Performs staffing requirements during the normal course of the position on a regular basis.
- Preparing sterile and non‑sterile products, serving as a subject matter expert on USP 797/800 regulation and enforcing compliance and oversight, ensuring survey readiness and clean room certification.
- Manages IV room personnel, including assisting with hiring, training and monthly rounding.
- Completes projects as designated by the Director of Pharmacy, putting patient safety first.
- Communicates well with pharmacy department, nursing staff, providers and essential personnel.
- Provides education on updated processes and procedures pertinent to the sterile space.
- Also active in department and hospital committees as designated by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Registered Pharmacist in the State of Colorado.
- BCSCP certification preferred.
- BCLS/ACLS required through AHA or ARC.
- B.S. or Pharm
D. degree in Pharmacy. Graduate of an accredited residency program preferred. - Minimum of three years of hospital pharmacy experience required.
- Previous management/project management experience preferred.
- Able to perform management functions (staff supervision, sick call scheduling, orientation/training, task education, and evaluation), in addition to regular staffing (operations/clinical).
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the practice of pharmacy.
- Demonstrates the ability to plan, provide, and monitor the delivery of pharmaceutical services.
- Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people and to maintain constructive relationships in dealing with them.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Participates in counseling and guidance of personnel. Acts as mediator between patient care and administration.
