POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Nurse Manager operationalizes the Craig mission and values with the nursing department by providing supervision of the day-to-day nursing activities performed by all licensed and unlicensed nursing professionals on an assigned unit(s) and shift. This position will provide leadership with expertise and clinical skills necessary to promote expert nursing care and to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

In partnership with other Nursing Leadership professionals, the Assistant Nurse Manager will work to promote clinical innovation, evidence-informed practices, evaluation of patient care outcomes and positive patient, family and staff experiences. This position will be required to provide direct patient care depending on the staffing needs of the hospital. This position may also require hospital oversight in the absence of nurse managers and/or other members of nursing leadership.

POSITION

REQUIREMENTS
  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current Colorado RN license and current BLS for the Health Care Provider certification required. ACLS required. Magnet recognized, relevant specialty certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Education: Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university is required. Graduate of a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school of nursing preferred;
    Bachelor of Science in nursing degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years nursing preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities
    :
    Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures and patient safety principles in the patient care environment required. Neuroscience and acute med/surg experience in the rehabilitation setting are strongly preferred. Ability to assess staff, patient, and family needs and coordinate an appropriate nursing plan of care and support. Excellent organization and customer service skills. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly.

    Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Ensure accurate and timely documentation. Team-building, conflict resolution, and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Ability to determine or interpret work procedures for a group of workers, assigning specific duties to them, maintaining harmonious relations among them and promoting efficiency. Work collaboratively with other departments and physicians.

    Able to respond to crisis’ and emergency situations appropriately. Ability to use professional judgment to identify areas for improvement and participate in development of quality initiatives. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make a formal presentation in front of groups. Creative and able to be an “out of the box” thinker.

    Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure staff practices according to the ANA Code of Ethics and within the scope of an RN according to the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. As needed, provide direct patient care according to the same guidelines. Use Standards of Care and hospital policies/procedures to guide practice.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team, staffing department and other members of nursing leadership to assess and allocate staff resources based on patient needs.
  • Complete staffing assignments for assigned units, ensuring fair and appropriate coverage on all units.
  • Communicate with the staffing department to oversee the daily schedule by assessing the needs of each of the units based on patient acuity—allocating resources accordingly.
  • Oversee unit assignments ensuring workloads are equitable.
  • Maintain visibility during assigned shifts on assigned unit/s in the hospital to ensure consistent leadership for all assigned staff. Assist in providing direction and supervision of nursing personnel, demonstrate professional judgment, use problem-solving techniques and delegate appropriately.
