Position Summary:
- Applied Technical Services, LLC (ATS) is seeking a UTSW/PAUT Level II Technician for a full-time, on-site position based in Englewood, Colorado. The technician will perform Ultrasonic Shear Wave Testing (UTSW) and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) inspections on welds, components, and structures in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
- The role involves equipment setup and calibration, review of job requirements, interpretation of indications, inspection reporting, and communication of results to supervisors, engineers, and clients. The Level II Technician will also assist with scan-plan development, verify test-data quality, and ensure compliance with safety procedures and ATS quality policies. The position may involve industrial environments, field projects, and occasional support for related NDT methods.
Responsibilities:
- Perform UTSW and PAUT inspections on welds, components, and structures.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate ultrasonic and phased array equipment.
- Review job requirements, written procedures, applicable standards, and client specifications before performing inspections.
- Interpret ultrasonic and phased array indications.
- Develop scan plans as required.
- Verify the quality of inspection and test data.
- Document inspection findings and prepare accurate inspection reports.
- Communicate inspection results to supervisors, engineers, clients, and team members.
- Explain technical inspection results in understandable terms.
- Ensure inspection activities comply with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, safety procedures, and ATS quality policies.
- Support field projects and inspections in industrial environments.
- Assist with related nondestructive testing methods as needed.
- Follow all applicable safety guidelines during field and shop activities.
Qualifications:
Certification &
Education:
- Level II certification in UTSW and PAUT, or equivalent NDT certifications.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical training or coursework in nondestructive testing is preferred.
- Technical Experience
- Strong proficiency in ultrasonic examination of welds and components.
- Experience setting up, calibrating, and operating ultrasonic and phased array equipment.
- Experience interpreting indications and preparing clear inspection reports.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as AWS, ASME, and API, or similar standards.
- Ability to follow written procedures and client specifications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions in field and shop environments.
- Effective communication skills when working with clients, supervisors, and team members.
- Ability to explain technical results clearly and understandably.
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel locally or regionally for on-site inspections as project requirements dictate.
- Ability to work in industrial settings.
- Ability to lift equipment as required.
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Ability to follow all applicable safety guidelines and ATS quality policies.
- Ability to work on-site in Englewood, Colorado.
