ESI is one of the largest construction companies in Colorado that self‑performs a variety of services including Underground Utilities, Milling, Asphalt, Paving, Grading, Concrete, and Earthwork for Infrastructure and Infrastructure Improvement Projects in the commercial, municipal, and federal sectors.
PositionSummary
Install underground pipes for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Perform a combination of the following tasks: grade trenches by hand using a transit or pipe laser, inspect pipe for defects, position pipe, and seal joints.
The ideal candidate will have wet utility experience and the starting wage will be determined based on experience.
Essential Functions- Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
- Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
- Set up or use instruments such as smart levels, lasers, grade rods, or transit levels.
- Train or supervise others in laying pipe.
- Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement with hand tools or with the assistance of heavy equipment.
- Cut pipes to required lengths.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, glue, or soap.
- Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems.
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
- Grade or level trench bases, using tamping machines or hand tools.
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
- Pour and finish concrete to create the manhole base, or install prefabricated manhole bases, sections, cones, rings, and lids to the required elevations.
- Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
- Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
- Operate walk‑behind trench compaction equipment, such as plate compactors, rollers, or jumping jacks.

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: 5 years related experience in field and office
Other Requirements: Clean driving record, ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening, and ability to access State & Federal Facilities.
