Property Accountant

Our client is a real estate firm. They seek a Property Accountant to join their Englewood, NJ office.

• Maintain accounting functions for assigned properties, including review and application of organizational and financial documents, oversight of AR/AP aging, unapplied cash, bad debt allowance, and cash flows
• Approve AP promptly and collaborate with field teams to resolve receivable and payable issues, reviewing tenant ledgers, commercial lease charges, CAM reconciliations, and capital expenditure activities per loan agreements
• Oversee accounting for mid-tier holding and fund entities, managing cash flows, recording contributions and distributions, reconciling equity/investments, and updating investment management fee calculations
• Coordinate month-end closing activities by preparing journal entries and supporting schedules, reviewing bank reconciliations, maintaining general ledger reconciliations, preparing work paper packages, and resolving issues
• Prepare quarterly financial and lender reports
• Execute year-end responsibilities, including preparation of audit work papers, responding to auditors’ inquiries, preparing financial statements and footnote disclosures, and reviewing CPA-prepared tax returns
• Apply strong GAAP knowledge to resolve accounting issues and identify operational process improvements, influencing change where needed
• Complete ad hoc financial projects and support training for junior staff and interns
• Review certain work papers to ensure accuracy and compliance

• 2+ years of accounting operations experience
• Open to industry experience
• Experience with journal entries and accrual accounting
• Strong financial statement experience
• Experience with Excel preferred
