The Children’s Ministry Director at Joy Church will oversee all aspects of the Joy Kids’ Ministries (ages 0-12),
providing strategic leadership, spiritual guidance, and a Christ-centered environment for children and families. This
role involves equipping parents and volunteers, managing ministry resources, and fostering a culture where every
child can grow in faith. The Children’s Ministry Director will motivate children to connect with the body of Christ and
engage in His mission while working closely with church leadership to fulfill the vision of Joy Church.
1. Ministry Leadership and Vision Alignment
- Oversee and strategically develop all aspects of Joy Kids Ministries (ages 0-12).
- Research, adapt, or develop age-appropriate, theologically sound curriculum that aligns with the church’s
mission. - Design engaging Sunday morning programs and other discipleship opportunities that foster spiritual growth
for children. - Partner with church leadership to align ministry goals with Joy Church’s vision and discipleship pathway.
- Regularly evaluate and refine ministry strategies based on growth trends, feedback, and church priorities.
- Ensure a seamless check-in and check-out process, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for
families. - Coordinate volunteers to ensure adequate coverage and troubleshoot issues that arise during services.
- Serve as the primary teacher for the elementary students (grades K-5) while equipping others to teach as
needed. - Personally engage with parents and children, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere on Sundays.
- Recruit, train, and equip a team of committed volunteers to serve in various children’s ministry roles.
- Organize regular volunteer training sessions to enhance skills in classroom management, child
development, and ministry best practices. - Care for and encourage volunteers, checking in on their spiritual health and recognizing their contributions
through celebrations and personal encouragement.
- Act as the primary communicator and partner for parents, equipping them to disciple their children at home.
- Provide resources and opportunities for parents to deepen their children’s spiritual formation.
- Facilitate community-building opportunities for families within the church, such as parent meetups or
workshops.
- Plan and execute programs such as Vacation Bible School (VBS), seasonal celebrations, outreach
initiatives, and seminars that engage children and families. - Organize special events to celebrate and strengthen volunteer teams and foster excitement in the ministry.
- Develop and manage the Joy Kids Ministry budget, ensuring resources are used responsibly and effectively.
- Schedule and coordinate childcare for special church events and programs.
- Track growth trends in attendance and engagement to plan for future expansion.
- Ensure compliance with church policies and safety standards, including background checks and training for
all volunteers.
- A deep love for God, families, and children, with a passion for seeing them grow in faith.
- A strong commitment to Joy Church’s vision, with a desire to cultivate a joyful gospel presence in Bergen
County. - A collaborative team player who works well with staff, volunteers, and church leadership.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible in fulfilling ministry commitments.
- Eager to learn and grow, demonstrating humility and a commitment to ongoing development.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to adjust to the evolving needs of the ministry and church community.
- Preferred candidates will have prior experience managing a large volunteer team, overseeing multiple
programs or departments, or directing a children’s ministry of similar size and scope.
