Oncology Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner

Our client, a well-regarded community hospital in Bergen County, is hiring a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner with an oncology background to join their inpatient team, working in close partnership with a renowned cancer treatment program. This role offers a rewarding 7-on/7-off schedule, giving you real time off between rotations while managing a high-acuity inpatient oncology caseload

The annual base salary range is $135,000 to $180,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide daily hospitalist rounding and clinical management for inpatient oncology patients
• Serve as on-call provider for oncology patients during off-site hours, available by phone for orders and clinical guidance
• Respond in person for new patient admissions during on-call periods
• Perform histories, physical exams, and diagnostic assessments for oncology inpatients
• Manage acute and chronic complications related to cancer diagnoses and treatment (e.g., neutropenic fever, pain crises, treatment side effects)
• Collaborate with attending oncologists and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and adjust plans of care
• Order and interpret relevant diagnostics, labs, and imaging
• Coordinate with case management on discharge planning for oncology patients

Job Requirements

• Active NP license in New Jersey (or eligibility)
• Board certification as an Acute Care NP, AGACNP, or FNP with relevant acute care/hospitalist experience
• Prior inpatient oncology, hematology-oncology, or cancer center experience strongly preferred
• Hospitalist or acute care inpatient background
• Comfortable making autonomous clinical decisions while on call
