Position Summary

Carry out QC lab analysis of raw materials, in‑process samples, final products, and project samples to ensure results are accurately determined in a timely manner, properly communicated to customers, and performed in accordance with established Quality Systems based on ISO 9001, FSSC 22000/ISO 22002, and all applicable cGXP. This supports the manufacturing operation and ensures outside customers receive the correct product, quality, and information.

The role includes developing and validating analytical methods, reviewing data, processing records, and assisting with regulatory requests as they pertain to Quality Assurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out all work to the appropriate Quality Standards, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000/ISO 22002, cGXP, and API, as applicable in each laboratory. Flag any issues as they arise.
  • Perform daily calibrations of all lab equipment and maintain records to the appropriate Quality Standards to ensure equipment is ready for use.
  • Work independently and in a team, ensuring smooth workflow, completing shift hand‑over with full understanding of ongoing issues, and supporting production operators in their in‑process testing with clear and current communication with the lab manager/supervisor.
  • Recognize, investigate, and troubleshoot questionable results and equipment problems to obtain timely resolution and keep the proper people informed.
  • Analyze incoming raw materials, in‑process samples, finished goods, and project samples per established SOPs using various instrumentation and techniques in the QC and API laboratories.
  • Fully functional in API testing and API data review.
  • Manage OOS investigations and ensure timely closure and resolution. Verify that implemented CAPAs are effective and monitored.
  • Drive the implementation of new testing methods and/or method improvements.
  • Serve as the primary trainer for laboratory testing and tasks.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and instructions using cGMP so work is done safely, the quality system is maintained, and good housekeeping is carried out.
  • Communicate fully with internal and external customers so that their requirements and results are understood, and provide proper interpretation. Attend morning meetings with production to discuss testing status.
  • Review and approve the daily logs reported by the QC lab.
  • Provide technical leadership to resolve analytical issues, maintain all instruments, and communicate data. Ensure instruments are functional and in good working order, meeting compliance requirements.
  • Serve as a technical resource for customer complaints and requests.
  • Update and maintain specifications across databases and systems in collaboration with the technical team.
  • Lead special projects through completion, including validation work.
  • Oversee quarterly testing and data monitoring.
  • Evaluate current instrumentation performance and recommend potential new technologies or replacements.
The Ideal Candidate Desired Background

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of lab experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Talents
  • Apply good safety practice and good laboratory practice – GLP, ISO 9001.
  • Experience in cGMP, GDP, and operating within quality regimes such as FSSC 22000/ISO 22002.
  • Demonstrated competence with all instrumental analysis and wet chemistry techniques (GC, GC MS, HPLC, TLC, liquid chromatography, automated titrations, physical property testing, color measurement, and spectroscopic techniques). Ability to teach these techniques, troubleshoot, maintain good records, and perform organoleptic testing.
  • Computer skills: use of databases, spreadsheets, word processing, LIMS, and computer‑controlled instruments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, decision‑making, and record‑keeping abilities. Ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work other shifts and overtime as required.
  • Strong and reliable trainer.
