Position Summary

Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling and teaching. Staff Pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patients’ drug therapies and provide drug information. Staff Pharmacists supervise and direct supportive staff. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Interprets medication orders (verbal and written) and transcribes to computerized patient medication profiles accurately. Maintains accurate, complete pharmacy patient medication profiles.
  • Maintains awareness of developments in pharmacy and healthcare that relate to job responsibilities and integrates them into their practice.
  • Supports the pharmacy’s pharmacoeconomic efforts. Reviews the use of targeted medications for compliance with current pharmacoeconomic programs.
  • Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug reactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, adverse reactions and appropriateness of drug, dosage form, regimen route, and therapeutic duplications.
  • Assists with pharmacokinetic consult service and drug dosing regimens per hospital protocol.

Qualifications Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in Pharmacy required.
  • Licensed in the State of Oklahoma. (Interns must be licensed within 90 days).
  • 0–1 years of experience in Pharmacy required; 1‑3 years hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests. Maintains competency in unique aspects of drug therapy for patients for which they provide care, including factors related to patients of all age groups to include neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
  • Knowledgeable of and complies with laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy.
  • Fosters a team environment by providing orientation and training to new team members.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workforce
