Summary of Job

Assist in care of hospital patients under the direction of nursing and the medical staff. Position is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care, and for promoting teamwork among co-workers.

Job Duties /Responsibilities
  • Assess the condition of the patient and prioritize upon arrival.
  • Assure that accurate and complete demographic and medical information is entered into the computer and presented to the medical staff in a timely manner.
  • Secure all proper signatures and forms from all patients at the time of registration.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when registration is complete.
  • Assure that patient is taken or directed to the proper department and/or room when departing from registration.

Qualifications Requirements
  • Assist with activities of daily living i.e., bathing, skin care, dressing, feeding, ambulating, transporting, and bed changing.
  • Take and record vital signs and I/O's, apply ice bags, aqua K pads, and maintain continuous bladder irrigations.
  • Report all unusual conditions or reactions to nurse in charge.
  • Answer lights promptly, collect food trays, and respond to patient wants and needs.
  • Complete or review worksheet of assignments for patient care within 30 minutes of shift change.
