Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practices under the direction or supervision of the professional registered nurse. The LPN implements nursing care for assigned patients and assists the RN in the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing care. This includes demonstrating competency in strong basic patient care skills, clerical/courier duties, stocking, transporting, specific patient care duties, and other departmental duties as requested.

May be floated as needed treating all diversities. Actively demonstrates a passion for patient care while demonstrating service recovery if needed and displays service excellence at all times. Follows standard of care as defined within scope of Licensed Practical Nurse and reflects the American Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Nurse Practice Act of Oklahoma.

Job Duties /Responsibilities
  • Maintains required licensures and certifications up to date as required by job description.
  • Knows, understands, and adheres to hospital/department policies and procedures.
  • Follows established hospital/department safety policies.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and pertinent seminars.
  • Effectively communicates both orally and in writing in English.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current LPN license in Oklahoma.
  • BLS (current upon hire).
  • Venipuncture skills required.
  • One year of full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting preferred.
  • De-escalation training (TEAM) completed within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic computer skills.
