SUMMARYThis location is part of our Prepared Foods Division. The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the daily management of all activities within the FSQA department, including adherence to food safety programs, specifications, and product quality for products within their assigned facility. In addition, the FSQA Manager will oversee all special projects as assigned, customer complaints, departmental budgets, turnover, and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIESProduction Oversight
- Manage daily production practices, including the reception of raw materials.
- Ensure pre-operational and operational sanitation standards are met.
- Oversee finished product quality and Food Safety Systems.
- Implement and enforce Tyson FSQA policies and procedures.
- Monitor verification and documentation for compliance with government regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP, HARPC, SOP, GMP, and SSOP programs.
- Ensure finished products align with customer specifications and label requirements.
- Report product issues and audit results to relevant stakeholders.
- Interact with customers and their agents to facilitate product demonstrations, plant tours, and audits.
- Address initial product runs and respond to quality-related customer complaints.
- Monitor microbiological results and conduct bacterial swabs.
- Generate shelf‑life environmental graphs.
- Conduct research and development activities to enhance food safety and quality.
- Select, train, and manage FSQA Supervisors and Technicians.
- Facilitate both the Food Safety and Foreign Material teams at the plant.
- Completely required internal, regulatory, and customer audits.
- Manage Hold Release inventories at the plant level in SAP.
- Experience
: 3+ years of management experience in the food industry; production/manufacturing preferred. Experience with FDA and USDA-regulated products preferred. SAP experience preferred. - Education
: A bachelor’s degree in food science, animal science, or a closely related discipline is required; however, candidates with 7 or more years of directly applicable experience, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, will also be considered. - Computer Skills
:
Standard computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and developing templates for use by plant management and corporate FSQA, sales, and operations. - Communication Skills
:
Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels - line team members to corporate management. - Special Skills
