About Enid High School

Enid High School is a public high school, dedicated to developing students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, technology users, and contributing members to a global workforce and society. Enid High School is a grade 9-12 comprehensive high school serving over 2100 students. Enid High competes in the OSSAA 6A Division I.

Job Summary

The Head Football Coach is responsible for various aspects of the Football Program, such as recruiting within the school, scheduling opponents (in conjunction with the Athletic Director), training, and coaching team members as well as student athletes. The Head Football Coach is required to abide the OSSAA rules and regulations as well as the rules and regulations set by the Enid School District Board of Education and the athletic administration at Enid.

The Head Football Coach is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all activities related to the Enid High School football program. These areas include but are not limited to the development of coaches and programs grades 7-12, planning and supervising of practices, games, management of budget, control of equipment and supplies, advisement of student‑athletes, recruiting potential student‑athletes throughout the school, scouting opponents, and organization and implementation of program development activities.

This position shall have responsibility for assisting the Athletic Director in the overall management of the Enid Public School District Interscholastic Athletic Program.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
  • 5 years of successful experience coaching football at the high school level (successful head coaching experience preferred).
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (OSSAA/EPS), opponents, staff, parents, community, and students.
  • Knowledge of Social Media applications and use of multiple creative apps.
  • Knowledge of athletics, athletic.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding school district athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Creative Cloud, social media platforms).
  • Ability to evaluate, develop and implement athletic programs, activities and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time.
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional development.
  • Must possess a valid teaching certificate.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in football.
  • Coordinate the development and promotion of the Football Program.
  • Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the football program.
  • Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
