Helping low-literate people on Friday morning in IJsselzand community center

For a small group of adult students who have difficulty with basic skills, we are looking for a volunteer who can help our teacher.

Do you like to:

• help students with assignments and clarify questions.
• help students to start up the computer and provide support on the computer.
• Read assignments to be carried out in small groups.
• Go along with the teacher's plans.
• Come up with ideas yourself.
• Can you help correct writing products.

The group consists of approximately 12 students. The learning questions are very diverse. A few students have a non-Dutch language background.

What most students have in common is that they are insecure, sometimes also fearful of failure and have low self-esteem. A lot of attention is paid to this in the group by focusing on what is going well, by giving lots of compliments and by ensuring a socially good and safe atmosphere.

What do you get in return?

• A travel allowance when the travel distance is longer than 5 km.
• The ROC has taken out a collective liability insurance (WEGAS) to cover the organization and the volunteers against possible consequences of damage.
