Machine Operator, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
TAMKO is seeking a Shift Technical Operator for its facility in Ennis, Texas. The Shift Technical Operator position requires a high level of flexibility, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to operate all equipment and positions on the line, including the line operator position. This person will be utilized as additional manpower in all areas and will assist maintenance personnel on assigned projects.
This person must be capable of troubleshooting process problems, conducting process checks, and assisting maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and correcting problem areas. Housekeeping responsibilities are also an important part of the job. Persons filling this position will not be limited to a single shift, but will be assigned to any shift, as needed.

Responsibilities- Have a desire to excel and be the best in terms of safety, quality, equipment operations, maintenance, and teamwork.
- Work in a safe manner under established company methods, policies and procedures.
- Work rotating shifts, up to 16 hours at a time.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Have an aptitude to understand how processes work from one stage to another.
- Operate all plant machinery including but not limited to the fiber feed system, rewinder, winder, material handling system, wrapper, lab systems and equipment and all associated machine process systems.
- Supervise machine operation of other crew members and occasionally supervise crew in the absence of the supervisor.
- Have the capability to identify defects and troubleshoot to solve the problem.
- Read, calculate and record test results using simple math including percent calculation, addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
- Develop production and mechanical skills and troubleshooting techniques on an ongoing basis to best support the shift and plant operations.
- Consistently arrive at work and on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Mechanical, electrical, or programming experience or training preferred.
- Must be able to read and comprehend instructions, policies and procedures that apply to daily work assignments and help to ensure they are being followed.
- Good working knowledge of computer software and HMI's.
- Must be a team player who can maintain good rapport with others for the plant success.

- This position requires the operation, maintenance, and testing of various heavy machinery.
- The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision are consistent with mobile equipment operators, and include operation of cars, trucks, forklifts, cranes and high lift equipment including a man lift.
- The physical requirements of this position are rated as “heavy work.” This may require exerting a force to move 500 lb rolls occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs of force consistently to move objects.
- Work is performed in both inside and outside environments, at elevated heights up to 60 feet, around moving mechanical parts, dusts and fumes, near chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in loud environments. Employee must follow all safety rules and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required. Hearing protection is provided where needed.
