Job Title: General Operative

Department: Timber Mill

Employment Type: Full Time

You will be responsible for supporting the production process by feeding machinery, handling, sorting and packaging timber products while ensuring high safety and quality standards.

• Feed raw timber into saws, planers, and automated machinery; assist machine operators with setup, adjustments, and monitoring for jams.
• Load, unload, stack, and sort timber products according to size, grade, and customer specifications.
• Inspect timber for defects and measure products to ensure they meet specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and oiling machines; maintain a clean, safe, and hazard‑free work area.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE.
• Complete basic production paperwork such as inspection checklists and tally sheets.
• Undertake other duties as assigned to meet operational demands.

• Physical fitness: capable of manual handling and working on your feet for long periods.
• Health & Safety Focus: strong commitment to site safety standards.
• Communication: effective verbal and written English skills.
• Teamwork: ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate with customers/public.
• Reliability: good timekeeping and attendance record.

• Valid forklift licence.

Hours:

7am – 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Safety Requirements: must wear PPE at all times, provided by the company.
