Full-time equivalent: 0.8 – 1.0 FTE

PhD
Salary scale: 13 – €6,461 to €8,020 monthly

Responsibilities
Lead the Control and Manipulation specialisation research line within the SMART Mechatronics and Robotics group
Guide the development of the group’s competences and ensure its financial soundness
Establish and maintain regional, national and international networks
Promote research outcomes, acquire projects and foster effective exploitation in education, research and industry
Collaborate closely with other (associate) professors, project managers, team leaders, researchers and students to create unified, future‑oriented teams
Qualifications
Doctoral degree and at least five years of experience in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Strong theoretical and practical expertise in dynamic modelling, simulation of complex physical systems, advanced control of industrial manipulators, autonomous unmanned robotic systems and reinforcement learning
Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking – bridging market needs and scientific research
Proven experience building networks, acquiring R&D projects, mobilising teams and exploiting outcomes for education, research and industry
Leadership style characterised by inspiring coaching, ambition, results‑orientation and openness
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines and organisational levels
