Your role as a System Test Engineer at Xsens

As a System Test Engineer, you play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products as we continue to expand our portfolio and development speed.

You are responsible for testing complete systems in integrated environments, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together across our hardware, embedded firmware, PC and Linux software, cloud platforms, and mobile applications.

You contribute to improving our testing approaches, with a strong focus on increasing test coverage, automation, and efficiency.

We actively leverage Generative AI tools to accelerate development and improve quality. You are expected to embrace these tools as part of your workflow and explore how they can enhance testing, automation, and analysis.

You will be based in Enschede, the Netherlands, and work closely with our multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform end-to-end system testing across our full product ecosystem (hardware, firmware, PC software, cloud, and mobile applications)

  • Validate system behavior and real-world user workflows in integrated environments

  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and release validation strategies

  • Develop and execute both manual and automated tests

  • Contribute to and improve test automation frameworks and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines

  • Analyze and debug issues across hardware and software boundaries, working closely with engineers to identify root causes

  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure requirements are clear, testable, and fully covered

  • Identify risks, edge cases, and integration issues across system boundaries

  • Drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies, tooling, and quality standards

We are looking for an independent and proactive System Test Engineer who thrives in an environment where initiative and a can-do attitude are highly valued. You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • Proven experience in system-level testing, preferably with integrated hardware/software products

  • Experience testing across multiple platforms (embedded systems, desktop applications, mobile apps, cloud services)

  • Programming experience in Python and/or C++ for test automation (preferred)

  • Experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing tools

  • Solid understanding of software design principles and system-level thinking

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including debugging complex system interactions

  • Excellent English communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  • Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership and work independently

What we value in this role

You take ownership and deliver reliable, high-quality results

  • You are curious and seek to understand the user and system context

  • You think in terms of solutions and outcomes, not just tasks

  • You proactively contribute ideas and improvements

  • You collaborate effectively and seek alignment when needed

  • You are comfortable operating in an environment with ambiguity and evolving requirements
