For the Foseco Netherlands R&D Center, we are looking for a Hands-on Foundry Supervisor. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily operational management of our foundry, where both ferrous and non-ferrous alloys are cast.
As a Hands-on Foundry Supervisor, you organize and coordinate the daily activities within the foundry. You prepare the casting schedule based on project requests, staff availability and available equipment, ensuring that people and resources are used efficiently.
You are the first point of contact for the practical execution of casting activities and monitor progress throughout the process. This is a truly hands-on role: alongside supervising the team, you regularly work on the shop floor and actively participate in the casting process.
Your main responsibilities include:
Planning, coordinating and supervising casting activities.
Leading and supporting a small team of foundry operators.
Preparing moulds using, among others, furan-bonded and clay-bonded sand.
Preparing melts according to melt specifications.
Melting various alloys and adjusting their composition when required.
Treating molten metal with alloying and treatment materials.
Leading and supervising casting operations, including the safe transfer of molten metal from the furnace to the mould.
Performing and supervising post-processing activities such as grinding, sawing, and sand or corundum blasting.
Machining analysis samples.
Preparing casting reports for R&D projects.
Supporting Technicians and Scientists with R&D equipment and experiments related to casting processes.
Quality, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement  In addition to managing the daily operations, you continuously look for opportunities to make processes safer, more efficient and more effective. You monitor the quality of molten metal and cast products, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
You analyze casting data, help reduce scrap and actively contribute to process improvements. You also coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of foundry equipment. Where possible, you carry out maintenance yourself and, when necessary, coordinate with suppliers and service technicians.
Safety Comes First  Working with molten metal and high temperatures requires focus, discipline and a strong commitment to safety. Safety is therefore a key part of your role.
You ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and make sure that all applicable safety, environmental and HSE procedures are followed within the foundry. You lead by example and actively promote a strong safety culture within the team.
